Wassup y’all,

How are all my wonderful people doing today?

We’re soon hitting the 1st of February already. It amazes me how fast time flies. It feels like just the other night I was boogying the night away on new years eve lol.

Apologies for not sticking to my word and posting up this weeks quote on Monday as I promised. I am truly a man of my word and hate letting people down. Truth be told, life happened…

My insomnia has been playing up real bad recently and I’m trying to juggle a lot of things at the moment. I set so much goals for myself that I think I need to slow down a little and practice the art of balance in ALL areas of my life. So once again, please do forgive me 🙂

As of January the 23rd I have officially hit the big 25 (woop woop)

I still look like 17 though so it’s all good lol.

Anyhoo,

Today I wanted to talk about Patience as it’s a word that we have all faced before and will continue to face throughout the duration of our lives.

And that my people brings me to this week QOTW:

“Patience is self control over a long period of time”

Me and impatience use to hang  out together as if we were best friends lol. No kidding right, I use to be so impatient that I wanted things instantly. I mean, don’t get me wrong – I was willing to put the work in to get what I wanted, it’s just that I always wanted it NOW NOW NOW!

Being a personal trainer I come across many people who want their dream physique instantaneously. It’s understandable though – The world we live in now, 90% (if not more) of the population want things done yesterday.

Out of that 90%:

45% are willing to put in the work

45% just want it by any means necesarry

I am going through a stage in my life now where I am consciously practising “The art of Patience” and boy it’s not a easy game…

I’m currently working on a product for the fitness industry and have been working on it since June 2013.

You can’t believe the patience I have had to learn over the last 7 months. My heart just wants to release the product to everyone but there has been so much legal work, paper work and ups and downs to go through that I have had no choice but to be patient. It’s been a critical life lesson for me not only for future business ventures but also other areas of my life.

However, some are better at exercising patience over others. In order to work on being patient you have to first be conscious about your level and ability to be patient in the first place.

I kid you not, my life has improved SIGNIFICANTLY since I decided to work on my patience and my level of intolerance.

I used to get aggravated just by sitting in the traffic. Some might say that’s normal but I don’t want to follow the norm. It makes no sense being aggravated over something which you have no control over. Think about that…

I find that when you become more patient life seems to just flow. I talk a lot about the flow of life because I have found that the flow is accessible to EVERYONE.

Sadly, some choose not to go with the flow  or simply aren’t aware of it’s presence.

I have made it my job to help others find this flow as I want everyone to be happy…

Simples!

From my own experience I can understand why being patient “appears” to be hard. When we are practicing patience we have to also learn to let go a little.

So within practising patience also comes “The art of letting go”.

There’s a difference between letting go and giving up, allow me to explain…

Letting go is knowing that you are still working on your goal but not obsessing with it so to speak.

Giving up is simply that…Giving up!

Knowing and establishing the difference is vital before you can see improvement.

When I first stated learning to let go I felt as if I was going crazy as I had conditioned myself to “obsess” where a goal was concerned.

Let me give you an example – If you are doing a 90 day challenge to drop 14lbs but you get to day 90 and have only lost 9lbs, the average person would get angry with themselves and start with the negative self talk…You start telling yourself:

“I knew you couldn’t do it, just give up” OR

“Don’t worry that you didn’t make it, your a failure anyway” OR

“At least we tried, might as well go back to eating crap”

But you know better right…

Instead, exercise patience, loving yourself and say:

“Well, I done everything I could to loose the 14lbs and it didn’t happen in 90 days…

O well, at least I’m on track to losing another 5lbs to get to a total weight loss 14lbs…

Hmm, I’m a lot closer than I was before aren’t I…

Plus, I look better, feel better and half of the hard work is done…”

Hug yourself at this point, feel good about yourself for all your hard work and keep on pushing!

You see, humans don’t think like that – We beat ourselves up and for what???

A balance of monitoring your thoughts & being patient will improve your life drastically – Use me as an example if you don’t anyone around you that has tried.

The sooner we start loving ourselves and stop with the negative self talk the sooner we will all be happy and living the lives that we all deserve AND want to live.

Hey Guys,

How are we all doing today? As always, I hope you’re all doing well.

Now that I’ve finished competing for the year and all my prep and dieting is over, I have time to get back to writing some heart felt post 😀

Interestingly enough, I’ve had A LOT of request for me to bring back the “Quotes of the Week” post. It appears it resonated with you guys more than I was aware of, so it’s only right I bring it back with no delay 🙂

For those of you who are new here, once a week I take a famously written quote and expand on it in detail giving you my philosophy and perspective. Check a previous “Quote of the Week” here for an example of what I am referring to. 

It’s been such a fantastic year for me and in January 2013, I never saw NONE of this all happening – What an incredible journey it’s all been. Without you guys who take your time to even read my post and support me, none of this would exist in my reality… So thank you all for being apart of my journey.

Let me start off by saying, Summer is finally here 🙂

Everyone’s happier, the evenings are longer and brighter, flowers are blooming, birds are singing and the positive vibes are flowing. I’m here to keep the vibes flowing with another quote of the week and to provoke some more thought.

“Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible”

Does this make sense to you? At one point it didn’t for me but now I fully get it. Let’s explore a bit deeper and hopefully I can make it clear for some who may not understand.

Everything starts of with a thought. You are where you are in life at this very moment because of your thoughts. You are in control of  your thoughts, you and no one else.

Through your  thoughts, you can decide the next step you take on this journey called life.

Through your thoughts you can determine how you want to look, who you want to be, where you want to be, what you want to achieve, how much money you’d like to earn, who you choose to marry, what car you drive, how you treat people, how you feel day to day, reaching for a snack, going to the gym, down to reading this blog post at this very moment…

Can you see how powerful thought is?

What is thought though? Have you really asked yourself that question? Where does it come from? Can it be measured? If psychics can really read our minds, do they know what thoughts we’ll come up with next? If so, that leads me to question free will? Do plants have thoughts? If so, what do they  think about?

We as individuals can see our thoughts in our minds but we can’t show them to people like you would a video on Youtube.

It’s almost as if thought exist in another realm somewhere and in order for us to bring them into manifestation on this physical 3d plane we need to take a number of “strategic  steps” for people to see what we can see in our minds. In order for people to see our thoughts, believe in our dreams and truly experience them with us we have to first know that it is possible.

But he took it upon himself to take a number of “strategic steps” to make that dream a reality. To make the once invisible thought become a visible reality.

He worked hard to share his vision with us and that’s what we have to do with our great idea’s, big dreams, ambitions and aspirations. Life is limitless, but by making the wrong choices we limit ourselves.

Say for example a guy watches a documentary about Bodybuilding and loves the lifestyle they live. He loves all the eating, the sleeping, competing, training twice a day and all the aspects that comes with that lifestyle and decides to himself:

“You know what, I want to become a Bodybuilder” – He leaves himself open to two choice. He could:

A) Just leave the idea as a thought, you know, a nice little idea in the back of his mind.Never taking action to make that dream a goal, he limits himself never really living to his full potential. One day however, he look’s back on his life once he’s settled down with his wife and kids and thinks “What if”… Don’t be a what if-er. I’m going to cover what if-er’s, buts, maybes and regret’s real soon as that’s as that’s an interesting topic within it itself. His second choice is:

B) Set a goal and make that thought become a reality (turn invisible into the visible). Do whatever it takes to not only become a Bodybuilder but the best damn Bodybuilder there is. (This reminds me, I must upload some Arnold Schwarzenegger motivational videos)

Thought is like electricity… We can’t see it but we know it exist. Just look around you. The world we live in is built around thought. You still don’t believe me…

The car you or someone you know drives…A load of people gathered round together and thought up a bunch of ideas  before that car came into existence. The design of the car, the price it cost, they also came up with it’s name whether it be BMW or Ford, it’s logo, the models that will be available and a whole list of other stuff. They put it on the market which then made it available for you to purchase and drive. This process doesn’t “Just Happen” 

Come to think about it, nothing ever “Just Happens”.

The shopping  centre you and I shop from…It didn’t just appear one day out from out of the skies…It was through thought how it came into manifestation.

The same applies to movies, TV shows, commercials and even music. A singer/songwriter for example usually goes through an experience and through that experience they get a thought/idea about a song to write, record that song and then release it for our listening ears to share the experience. I wasn’t there but I know Katie Perry kissed a girl and liked it very much 🙂

Even the tough situations we face…it’s through our thoughts that we decide the outcome. Do we get knocked down and stay down or do we get back up and keep fighting. The choice is yours.

When this concept was first brought to me, I had difficulty understanding it (many people do).

But as time goes on, if you become more aware of your thoughts and consciously monitor your thinking, you start to realise that you literally shape your future and the outcome of ALL situations.

I invite you all to try this an experiment for one week as I don’t want you to believe the information I give you but would rather you go research and try it out for yourselves. What do you have to loose? If it doesn’t work for you it cost nothing but a little effort.

To believe means to be-lied to which is a state of ignorance – Accepting something you cannot prove is ignorant which is why I say research it and find the truth for yourself. Once accepted as truth for yourself you are no longer in that state of ignorance.

If this information resonates with you in any way, shape or form or you gain something from the experiment after a week, you can then build on from your experience and start taking REAL control over your life.

The choice is yours for the taking…

Sometimes we are so wrapped up in our day to day lives that we don’t realise our true talents, abilities and skills, to go out and take advantage of them.

Or you may be in a situation where you recognise your talent but don’t feel you can make a living from it, so you go through in life working for a salary never really utilizing your full potential.

I think this is a sad position to be in but when asking around and speaking with people, you find that most are in this situation. The system is created in such a way that, we work most of our life’s to end up with little to nothing.

We work a 9-5 which takes up the majority of our day, add travel on top of that and your looking at 9-10 hours of work, sometimes even more, but only getting paid for the 8 hours. And when we do get paid we have bills and taxes to folk out on.

So in the end we work hard all our life’s and aren’t really left with nothing, all for doing something we don’t enjoy.

How many of you truly wake up in the morning with passion, excitement and joy looking forward to work and your day ahead.

If you are in a position where you’re not happy with life because your not doing what you love, have a deep think about what you truly want from life.

I’d not advocating anyone leave their jobs spontaneously, but more to analyse your situation.

We are all special in our own way and have something to offer to the next man.

We just have to look deep within ourselves, follow our heart and intuition.

Follow your dreams, work hard, practice and persevere. Make sure you eat a variety of foods, get plenty of exercise and maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Look after your body and your body will look after you. In life, don’t expect you can put in 80% and get back 100%, it doesn’t work like that. You have to put your heart in everything you do, especially if you are aiming for success. Work harder than you did yesterday and tomorrow will be easier! Visualise what you want out of life and believe that it WILL manifest.

Keep hold onto your faith.

Eat well as nutrition is linked to your well being more than you realise. Exercise not only the body but the mind also by learning, reading and searching deep within your soul. A lot of the time people feel lonely and search for external companionship trying to find the perfect partner without realising all along all they really need to do is find themselves…

Life can be tough, let’s face it…However, perseverance can lead us to greatness. It can lead us some place we never imagined. Perseverance also builds our character by making us stronger individuals who never quit when things get rough and down right dirty.

I’ve gone through some extremely difficult times in my life and when I look back and reflect, I do sometimes wonder how I got through certain situations…But after further reflection I can see it was by keeping strong, having faith and the knowing that time heals all wounds. Fortunately I also have a wonderful family that I have to give thanks for.

If you’re reading this right now it’s likely that you’re blessed in life whether you realise it or not!

There’s wants and there’s needs in life. Ask yourself this…Do you have everything you need in life, not want, but need? Food, health, shelter, love…

I count my blessings everyday and try not to be ungrateful because although I don’t have everything I “WANT” in life, I have everything I “NEED” and I know there is always someone in a worst of situation than myself (not to say my circumstances are bad in anyway)

Just think, if you had everything you wanted in life right now what would you do everyday…?

Seriously think about that for a moment. If you had it all what would you be trying to achieve and accomplish…You’d already have it all…

That’s why I’m in no rush to accomplish certain goals any more and would rather take my time enjoying the journey rather than trying to rush to the finish line. (Please note though, there is a difference in taking your time and then there is just straight up procrastination)

I think life is great and all my bad experiences I’ve been through and have yet to go through I see as blessings in disguise to test my character and to teach me long life lessons that can only aid me in teaching and helping the next man…

Hello my good people,

How are we all doing. I hope everyone is blessed and ready to tackle another week. Time is really flying past these days, wouldn’t you agree?… I mean it feels like just the other day it was January and now where deep into April approaching May. Hmmm…That’s why I tell people everyday to live life and enjoy themselves…Anyway….

I found this quote the other day and it resonated with me more than you would believe, so it was only right that I shared it with you guys. It goes as follows:

“When you fail you learn from the mistakes you made and it motivates you to work even harder.”

Can any of you relate to this? I know I can and this is exactly how I feel when I’ve failed at something. Failure always makes me think to myself “OK, so things didn’t go to plan this time round but now you’ve learnt this lesson, how can reformulate a plan and come back even better and stronger”. And you know what, you might even call me crazy here, but I also view failures as blessings in disguise. Hear me out…

If we never failed at anything then how would we grow as individuals?

Think about it… Where would there be space for us to develop and improve? There would be no balance as things would always be one sided and there would be no lessons for us to learn from.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying I like failing, I mean c’mon who does…However, just by changing our perception on how we view failure, it can make a big difference in our lives.

I think we should become friends with failure or even see him as a big brother who teaches us lessons with tough love.

Before I started my journey on bettering myself, I use to honestly fear failure. To think, I use to like the idea of not attempting something because in my mind I could then say “Well, no harm done, if I don’t try at least I’m not going to fail” – Looking back at it now that was failure within itself and such a cop out!

So what if you attempt to do something and it doesn’t go to plan the first time round…Dust yourself off and try again. The amount of books I’ve read on Entrepreneurs who have failed businesses a crazy amount of times but they still kept grinding and grafting and today they are multi-millionaires.

Or let’s take babies for example…When they are first learning how to walk they fall over time after time again but they stick at it starting from small little steps to then being able to walk all over the place. We all use to be babies at one stage and we all learnt how to walk –  Failure wasn’t an option back then – What’s changed?

Here’s how I now view failure…Whether I’m going into a competition or attempting to accomplish a goal, my mind set is “Failure is not an option”.

However, I also embrace the idea of failure upon facing it. Therefore, whatever I am attempting at the time, win or loose, I still come out a winner at then end. I either take 1st place or learn a valid life lesson.

Before I go, let me share a poem with you all – I first came across this poem when I was in Jamaica back in 2009. I bough a small picture type poster with these very words written on it and have it on my bedroom wall to this day. I hope you find comfort in reading and start changing your perception.

“Motivation is the art of getting people to do what you want them to do because they want to do it”.

That quote may have went over your head as it did mine the first time I read it so let me explain.

When I get people to start leading better lifestyles by eating healthier, exercising and changing their perception on day to day situations, it’s not because I have some amazing gift or special ability, it’s because deep down they wanted to make that change.

You see, a lot of times in life there are places we want to go, things we want to achieve and passions we want to fufill, but due to the fear of failure or simply just procrastinating, we never get round to it – Not until we are inspired or “Motivated” that is.

I reckon that it is a misconception that being a procrastinator makes one lazy. I feel it’s more a case of managing your time well and getting your priorities straight in the right order.

With so much going on in our lives and so much to fit in the day, I can see why people just give up on certain activities or use excuses to justify their situation. I’ll give you an example, sometimes a month can go pass and I won’t see someone in the gym for sometime and when I ask them where they’ve been it’s not unusual for them to reply something along the lines of “Argh man, I’ve just been so busy slaving away at work and when I’m finished after a long day I’m just to tired to train” C’mon man…REALLY?

I mean fair enough if that is the case and you have some extreme job OR your a single mum with 10 kids, but a lot of the time it’s just an excuse because you simply can’t be bothered, and by coming up with these stories (the lame excuses) it allows you to justify it in your head some how. NO!

I don’t mean to sound harsh you know I love you guys, but sometimes a dose of tough love is needed with a helping of our good friend MR reality check 🙂 And I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t once apart of the story tellers club but as we grow we learn and start to view things differently.

Without getting to side tracked, the point I’m trying to make is I don’t feel anyone can “MAKE” you do anything, we have to want it first. Strip away the money, cars, clothes and wealth and you will see we are all the same, no one is better than anyone.

“So as humans all we can do is motivate and be motivated – Inspire and be inspired”.

I learned that we can do anything, but we can’t do everything… at least not at the same time. So think of your priorities, not in terms of what activities you do, but when you do them. Timing is everything people. With only 24 hours in the day it’s hard to accomplish everything we want to achieve.

When you break it down even further, you will see we are only left with a few hours in the day to be successful. Let me show you:

Say we sleep 8 hours a night & work 8 hours a day – That’s 16 hours gone already. This now leaves us with only 8 hours. Let’s throw in gym time, family time, social activities with friends, preparing meals, watching TV etc…This can easily take up to 4 hours if not longer. I didn’t even mention the time it takes to travel to and from work. So let’s now say we’ve got 2-4 hours remaining out of a 24 hour day, is that really a long time?

The point I’m trying to make is time is against us and we have very little “time” to be procrastinating…especially if we have goals we are trying to achieve. Therefore, we must prioritise our time wisely and make use of the little time we do have (which isn’t a lot as you can see)

Analyse and know what is important to you and make it your priority.

No matter how many goals you have achieved, you must set your sights on a higher one. I feel that by having goals in life, it allows us to stay motivated, driven and to keep striving for more. I believe that the day you are satisfied, or for better words, comfortable, is the day you stop really living life.

I apply this same analogy to Bodybuilding. I keep aiming for improvements because I know the day I look in the mirror and say “I’m there now” is the day I stop giving 100%. I mean think about it, why would I need to give 100% if I’ve already crossed the finish line so to speak.

So the next time you aim for the sky and finally get there, reach for the stars. Once you reach the stars, see if you can go even higher…Who knows where life will take us. Remember, we are our own limitations and nothing can stop us from achieving our dreams. We have the power within us to do the impossible. Keep dreaming, keep positive and know you will get there.
