Nutritional Supplements For Weight Loss

It’s the time of year when we find ourselves self-indulging a little too much and decide to rebel against all that sitting around in the warm and vow to take control of our physical fitness. If for you this also implies losing weight, you’ll be delighted to hear that there are several nutritional supplements available to help speed up your progress. We take a look at some of the most popular.

Raspberry ketones

The naturally occurring chemical which gives raspberries their distinctive aroma has been hailed recently as a miracle fat burner. Preliminary findings from laboratory experiments have been seen as promising, although there has as yet been no discrete study on human subjects. Raspberry ketones appear to work by stimulating the body’s own natural fatty acid oxidation and lipolysis processes.

Acai berry

Research has proven the antioxidant effects of this new superfood, which can protect the body from cancer-causing free radicals, but again there’s no clinical evidence yet to confirm its reputation as a weight-loss supplement. What makes Acai unusual among fruit is its monounsaturated fat content, which is believed to help you stick to your diet by making you feel fuller.

Capsicum

Dieting can lead to a compensatory slowing of metabolism, the rate at which energy from food or stored fat is consumed, making it more difficult to shed those pounds. Capsaicins from certain capsicum peppers have been clinically proven to boost the body’s metabolic rate. Studies found consistent dosage to be an important factor in its effectiveness.

Green tea

Caffeine is also well established as a metabolism booster, most effective in combination with other agents. Green tea contains both tea catechins and caffeine, and a 1999 study found it more effective in promoting both energy expenditure and fat oxidation than caffeine alone, apparently due to the synergistic effects of these key ingredients. A Green Tea supplement contains both catechins and caffeine in high concentrations.

Garlic

Garlic has a centuries-old reputation for healing but its potential for weight control only emerged in 2009. The herb incidentally inhibited weight gain in lab tests of its ability to combat high blood pressure and diabetes. Garlic contains many beneficial substances, but its most potent ingredient, allicin, is destroyed by cooking, so it’s worth considering a high-strength supplement.

Ginger

Another wonder-herb with a long-established reputation, ginger is valued by dieters for its rebalancing properties. The active ingredient, gingerol is know to boost digestion, circulation and the metabolic process, meaning more of what you eat is converted to energy. It’s also reputed to regulate cholesterol levels and help eliminate toxins, and some practitioners believe it has appetite suppressant properties.

 There are many high quality nutritional supplements available which make the most of these remarkable natural substances, either alone or in carefully-formulated combinations. While they’re no substitute for sensible diet and regular exercise, if you feel you could use a little extra support in your quest for a trim, healthy body, they’re definitely worth considering.

Time to make it happen! No excuses!

What’s up my good people,

Sorry I have been a little quiet recently. 3 months  into the new year and my time table is full already.

One of the reasons for being so busy is that I’ve started the execution of my 5 year plan to become a millionaire.

Yep, that’s right. I really believe I can do it if I continue to work smart, stay dedicated and to keep trying.

A lot of people talk the talk, but you guys know what I’m about…

The way I see it is, I’m 25 now and I ain’t getting any younger.

So if I’m really going to try and achieve ANYTHING in life, I may as well start now using whatever resources I can get my hands on and stop with the excuses and procrastinating. I’m an Aquarius and we do procrastinate a lot.

Procrastination is definitely a teacher for me in this life time as I know when I finally overcome/master it, I will learn a lot about myself and what I can really do/achieve.

All I ask from you guys in exchange for this blog is to project good thoughts out there for me and my 5 year plan 🙂

Today we’re going to talk/cover nutrition!

Nutrition, Emotions and your Logical Mind

Nutrition is a topic which will forever live as  the moment it dies, we die along with it. We all need to eat to survive – That we can all agree on (I hope)

However, obesity and food related illnesses are all due to either a lack of education or poor choices/decisions with dire consequences.

A thought enters our mind for the need or the wanting of some some ice cream.

Now, our logical mind will tell us:

“No, don’t eat it – We are doing really well right now on this diet and have got so far”

However, our emotional self will tell us:

“Go on, eat the ice cream – You deserve it for going the whole 6 weeks without slipping up”

We are faced with the classic:

Logic vs Emotion scenario –  Which most of us have faced at some time in our lives.

Most of the time emotion wins and we are later faced with frustration for not being strong enough to face the emotion full on without it taking victory.

This is why when you next go to eat, ask yourself:

Am I hungry or am I feeding an emotion?

Do I allow food to enslave me or am I in control?

Be honest with yourself now folks…

You will most probably know the answer from the get go, but the little voice that resides inside your head will have you living in straight denial.

I find that this little voice is really the emotion talking from deep within you..

Really think about that…

It’s quite deep and will most probably help you to get to the root issue of the emotion that  lives deep within your sub conscious mind…

When I talk nutrition with people, I go deeper than  “Just a food plan”

I’m actually in this game to help people and need to help them in order for my soul to grow…That’s why it’s deeper than:

“Just a food plan to me”

I  find out why my clients cheat themselves whilst dieting and what leads them to that place of wanting to cheat in the first instance.

It’s easy to charge someone £80-£120 for a food plan but what’s the point if they struggle keep their own diet clean for 4-6 weeks.  It’s logic to work with the person and find out why/where they are going wrong. That’s the difference between me and your “average” personal trainer.

You could be well educated on nutrition, but if you don’t make “smart” food choices then your knowledge goes in vein my friend.

“Life is all about choices- We make them everyday”

We chose what WE want to wear in the morning before leaving our house

We chose what WE want to eat when we are hungry.

We chose what careers WE want for ourselves.

We chose our partners in life and the relationships we have with them

We chose our own thoughts (which creates our reality)

And WE chose what we put into our bodies throughout the duration of our lives – No one else!

Therefore you are in the state you are in now because of YOU and no one but YOU. We need to start taking responsibility for ourselves and our actions and stop blaming other people for the position/state we are in.

I love you guys but have to dish out a serving of tough love every now and then!

When approaching nutrition from any angle, it’s important to note that we are all different individuals and different methods of eating will and won’t work for different people. Please keep this in mind.

When it comes to food, our bodies respond differently as we are all unique in that way.

I will have to cover nutrition throughout the duration of this blog as it is too vast of a subject to cover in one post. Saying that, I will give you some simple tips to follow which will make life easier for yourself where nutrition is concerned.

(P.S  I’m not a certified nutritionist – I just know my stuff through researching, on top of researching, on top of researching – We can all do it!)

1) Life style change VS the 12-16 weeks diet

I say it all the time – Change your lifestyle through food rather than just following a diet plan which only last for a few weeks. Why go through the work of cleaning up your diet, keeping consistent for 16 weeks only to go and mess it up again with your old way/habit of eating. A life change will equate to a newer and healthier you.

2) Treat Meals – I no longer use the term cheat meal any more. I now say treat meal. The way I look at it is – words are powerful. The moment you say you are having a cheat meal is the moment you feel as if you are cheating yourself.

But when you state you are going to “enjoy”  a treat meal, subconsciously you feel better within yourself.

WOW – LOL – WHAT A MADNESS!

Use treat meals as a way to treat yourself every 2 weeks or so for the dedication and hard (smart) work on your part.

Utilize this time as a mental reset and eat whatever you like for 1 meal (And one meal only lol)

Go all out…TREAT YOURSELF! You deserve it.

Pizza, Chinese, Mexican – Eat whatever you feel like and then get back on track pronto!

3) Carbs – The friend and the enemy for both females and males. You either love them or hate them – Or both lol.

Carbs cover a large percentage of food intake in the entire world  as it comes in so many different forms. You have good carbs and bad carbs. Low GI & High GI carbs.

Potatoes

Vegetables

Chocolate

Crisp

Fizzy Drinks

Did you know that all the above are a form of carbohydrate!

(Search my page for more info about carbs as I have covered them in more detail before)

Carbs are what YOU make of them. If you eat too much and you don’t exercise then yes, you’ll get fat. But that’s the same with anything we eat.

Let me make it as simple as I can:

Carbs = Energy

If you don’t exercise and your body makes no use of that energy, it will store it for later use in the form of fat.

Hence why, when people are trying to loose the fat (stored energy) they have do exercise (weights/cardio) as a way to release that energy (stored fat)

I hope you just had a light bulb moment due to me breaking it down so simply for you.

As humans,  we complicate things waaaaaaaay too much.

If you eat clean carbs in moderation and exercise at least 3-4 times a week, then the carbs will feed your body with the energy it needs and work towards re filling your glycogen cells (We won’t get into glycogen now lol)

I don’t want too confuse you with too much science, but it is important  that you know the basics for your own good (And others around you)

4) Vegetables – Look, there not that bad OK lol. Vegetables will help your body with homeostasis (a state where all the bodies chemicals are balanced)

This may not make sense to you lol – Don’t worry if it doesn’t

It does this by feeding your body the required vitamins, minerals and nutrients needed in order for your endocrine system and other bodily features to perform optimally/sufficiently.

Vegetables are also a great source of fibre which will help to keep you fuller for longer.

Keeping full will lead you to eating less throughout the day which helps with less calorie consumption which causes….

FAT LOSS!

5) Water – Not only does water help to keep you fuller at meal times, it also works to flush toxins out of the body.  Why does this relate to fat loss you may ask?

Just think, if your body is filled with toxins and acids, it cannot work sufficiently at doing it’s job. Shifting fat is a “job” it has to undertake but will stuggle to do so if it’s not well looked after.

It’s like having diesel in a petrol car – The two mixed together will slow down and eventually damage the car (your body). The same can be said for toxins, pesticides and unbalanced acid levels within the body.

Ponder upon what has been written today and see if you can use any of the above (if not all the methods) to help re-shape and reform your temple AKA your special body.

Happy Monday Folks 🙂

How are we all doing on this fine Monday?

I see the motivational content is helping you chase your dreams and goals…

This really does fill me with joy and I’m glad I can help where I can.

Thank you for the emails and kind messages – It does mean a lot to me 🙂

My schedule is filling up thick and fast again but I have made a conscious effort to try and do at least ONE post a week. Lord knows I would write for a living but I haven’t found a way to make money from it YET…

I have many ideas and concepts for books I want to write, but I’m just waiting until I have some space on my time table to focus on writing a best seller (Put some good thoughts out there for me please…It cost you nothing 🙂

Let’s talk motivation as it seems to ALWAYS be a topic of conversation around me (And around you I’m sure)

Today I will talk about some methods in which you can use to help make that dream come true by staying motivated. I have discussed some of these methods before, but it’s vital that we go over them to ensure we have fully grasp the concept of what is required to utilise them for the great tools that they are.

So without further delay, let’s get stuck in…

5 Tools of Motivation

1) What is your why?

When we get half way through a goal, it’s easy to forget why we even started in the first place. Have you been in this situation before?

It gets to the point where you may sometimes think:
“This has become way to tiresome now, why am I even doing this again?

Sometimes we need that fuel to add to our fire and help us remember our “Why”.

This remembrance will help us to bring fourth that passion which got us started up in the first place. Always focus on your “Why” when you start to loose hope.

2) Visualise/Imagine

Since we were children we have been using our imaginations. Most people imagine the worst as we live in a fear based system but we should use our imaginations for positivity and to better our lives.

Imagine how good you will feel once you have gone through the pain and hustle of reaching your goal/dream.

A woman after 9 months goes through the pain of delivering a baby. However, once she has gone through that pain, she has the beauty and joy of a  new life that has delivered.

The same cane be said for when we are reaching for our dreams. We may (very likely) go through some pain and struggle, be prepared for it. However, once that pain has subsided, we can then look forward to our blessings and new joy in life.

Everything has a gestation period and has to go through a process before it comes to
fruition. Please remember that…

3) Set Way Points

Way point’s help you to track your progress over a period of time. There’s nothing worst than going through 90 days of struggle to reach a point where you feel like you haven’t achieved much because you can’t identify  with “how much you HAVE actually achieved”.

I find that a lot of the time, people have come so far in life from where they once were but choose to focus on where they are at present and complain that they are not where they WANT to be rather than focus on how far they’ve come…

Sound familiar…

Measure your progress and use it as motivation for how WELL you are actually doing…

That’s right…Big yourself up…It’s not ego, it’s claiming and reaping the happiness for what YOU DESERVE!

4) Share, Share, Share – Share with friends and family what you’re up too – There’s nothing more embarrassing than someone asking you 2 months down the line how your project is coming along for you to turn around and tell them:

“Yerrrr, about that….”

LOL

Stick to your word!

5) How will it improve your life?

Life is all about change and improvement – If you’re not moving, creating, expressing and loving what you do, what are you doing?

Usually, in order for us to change our life’s, it involves us having to change a current routine or to try/do something different – Leaving our comfort zones so to speak.

Upon our journey to success though, we will find MANY MANY SET BACKS.

But ask yourself:

How will not giving up improve my life?

If I keep going through the tough, will it be worth it?

By not giving up, can I improve others lives around me?

Sometimes our dreams/goals include others (Our children or spouse maybe)

So even though our focus is on self, we must remember the people around us that are also counting on us as we are very much needed in this life time (more than we may know)

Conclusion

I’m here for you guys and can see the potential in everyone collectively and individually…

Believe in yourself and know that you can make your dreams a reality if you say:

“Enough is enough – It’s my time”

What’s up my wonderful people?

How are we all doing on this fine Monday?

I’m here to bring you some more motivation today as motivation is what keeps us going through rough times & difficult situations, without EVER giving up. It’s what keeps us going when we are on the verge of “wanting” to give up…

It appears that ALOT of people loose hope when Monday morning comes around…Am I right?

They’ve enjoyed the weekend sooo much that work seems like the biggest drag ever…

I’m sure that’s why Eric Tomas makes “Thank God It’s Monday” every week 🙂

Look at it like this though: Things could be so much worst…

It’s easy to complain about our current situation, I use to do it…

But when you look at the bigger picture at what is going on around us in the world today, it’s easy to see that we’re not doing too bad 🙂

Imagine if you had no food to eat whilst starvation was upon you?
Imagine living on the streets throughout the winter period?

Imagination is a powerful tool to help you see that “All is well”

Anywhoo,

I want to discuss motivation with you today…

Being a personal trainer/nutrition advisor, I’ve heard every excuse under the Sun LOL…

Here’s a few:

“I had no time Dave, you know, with work n all”
“It was raining outside buddy…”
“Dave, you know how it is, KFC is just so tempting”
“Healthy food is boring Dave, I really can’t do this”
“It’s too much effort man – I will just take fat burners instead”

Heck, I may have even used some of those excuses myself in the past…

However, one thing I’ve come to learn about excuses is that they are just:

“Really Good Stories”

It’s a story we create and tell ourselves on a daily basis to make us feel better. Think about it…

Somehow along the way of becoming a great story teller, we actually believe our own story LOL…

Us humans really are something else…

We then tell our friends and family:

“Arghh man, I was going to the gym for a month or two but I stopped as it took up way too much of my energy. I also started to eat sugar again to keep my energy levels up also”.

People come up with such a bizarre crazy stories and really believe them LOL

It’s all good though as I know this fitness way of life isn’t easy.

It does take work and dedication to keep your nutrition in check.

It does require effort to work out 3-4 times a week whilst working a job (Just Over Broke) and juggling family and social life…

BUT it can be done if you make the time and are “Motivated” enough to stick to it…

Do you have heart? Do you have what it takes?

YES YOU DO!

Are you prepared to sacrifice something you love to get to where you want to be?

Only you can answer that one my friend…

Do you give up when it get’s tough?

Maybe before you did, but not after reading this…

YOU CAN CREATE WHATEVER IT IS YOU WANT IN LIFE…

It all depends on what you are willing to put in though?

When I was preparing for my first Bodybuilding/Fitness show, motivation was the only thing that kept me going…

Did I want to give up at times…HELL YES!

I even doubted myself at times…

I had to sacrifice foods I loved as they were no good for my goal…

I had to come out of my comfort zone and train harder than I ever had trained before as I was competing against the best physiques in Europe…

I had to believe in myself!

No one else can believe in you if you don’t have self belief first…Remember that…

I had to wake up at 5.30am in the morning to go to the gym. I then got to work tired only to work a 8 hour shift and still went back to the gym for round 2 of training in the evening. That’s my story but not one filled with excuses…

Too many of you are good story tellers…

Like I say, I know how it is – I’m human as well…

But don’t let story telling (excuses) be the reason why you don’t excel and move forward in your wonderful life…

Do you know that whatever created you also created you to create abundance in your life?

Our mind is a gift that allows us to make our thoughts a reality – Did you know that?

Did you know that you are more powerful and special than you may perceive at this moment in time?

If not, work with me on reclaiming your power and live the HAPPY LIFE that you deserve to live – I’m not joking here!

What other way is there to live? Really think about this my people…

A new job…

A new state of mind…

A new you…

It is all possible if YOU REALLY WANT IT…

WTF IS THIS?

KFC Allegedly Not Serving Real Chicken The Truth About KFC’s Name Change. KFC has been a part of our tradition for many years. Many people, every day, eat at KFC religiously. However, do they really know what they are eating?

During a recent study of KFC done at the University of New Hampshire, they allegedly found some very upsetting facts. First of all, why did they change their name? Several years ago Kentucky fried chicken became KFC. Does anybody know why? Most thought the real reason was because of the “fried” food issue. But that is not the case. The real reason why they call it KFC is because they allegedly cannot use the word chicken anymore. Why? KFC does not use real chickens? They allegedly use genetically manipulated organisms.

These so-called “chickens” are kept alive by tubes inserted into their bodies to pump blood and nutrients throughout their structure. They have no beaks, no feathers and no feet. They grow with multiple legs and wings on one “chicken”. Their bone structure is dramatically shrunk to get more meat out of them. This is great for KFC because it saves them money for their production costs. There is no more plucking of the feathers or the removal of the beaks and feet. The government allegedly required them to change their name and banned them from using the word “chicken”. I find this matter very disturbing. I hope people will start to realize this and let other people know.
